The soldier was found about 20 minutes after being reported missing. Medical personnel tried to revive the soldier at the scene.
The soldier was reported dead at 9:45 p.m.
The incident is under investigation, and the soldier's name is being withheld until next-of-kin are notified.
It was not known whether the soldier was from Fort Carson, home to the 3rd Armored regiment.
