The race between Pueblo County Sheriff Dan Corsentino and his opponent Kirk Taylor is getting heated.
It's been a case of, "he said", "he said".
Kirk Taylor claims Sheriff Corsentino has been frivolously spending tax payer dollars on unnecessary business travel. Sheriff Corsentino says, over the last 5 years he has spent less than $20,000 for training and traveling, money he says is crucial in making sure Pueblo County stays safe.
Corsentino fired back, saying Taylor allegedly took advantage of his ties with a former district attorney by requesting special treatment after Taylor was pulled over for suspicion on driving under the influence. Taylor denies asking for special treatment. Taylor did pass a blood alcohol content test and was never charged.
Taylor also accused Sheriff Corsentino of misusing his county credit card. The Sheriff denies those allegations.
Sheriff Corsentino says, Taylor is not qualified for the sheriff's position. However Taylor says, he has more than 16 years of law enforcement experience under his belt.
