With the first significant winter snowfall of the year dumping more than six inches on the Colorado high country this weekend, ski industry officials are dreaming of another big year.
Rob Perlman, president and CEO of industry group Colorado Ski Country USA, says Steamboat Ski Resort, Beaver Creek, Wolf Creek and Aspen got two- to six-inches of snow, kicking the race to be open first into high gear.
Loveland Ski Area plans to start making snow this weekend and hopes to extend its winning streak to seven years.
Meanwhile, Ski Magazine has put out its annual ranking of ski areas. Vail is again number one.
Others Colorado resorts in the top ten are Snowmass at number three; Breckenridge at number six; Aspen at number seven; Beaver Creek at number eight; and Steamboat at number nine.
