Senator Wayne Allard says he's satisfied that the Air Force Academy is on the right track in making changes in the fallout of a sexual assault scandal.

The Colorado Republican says new leadership and new policies at the elite school are the correct first steps, and he has confidence they're working.

Allard pushed for change at the academy since current and former female cadets contacted his office with complaints that their claims of sexual assault were either ignored or answered with discipline against the women.

He says now that changes underway, consistent supervision is needed to ensure the improvements continue.
