Updated: 05/14/2013 - I'm still focused on meeting my goal of doing a pull-up. And I'm almost there! But I'm always getting this question:
This week, there will be contruction along I-70 and on other mountain roads, leading to closure, and possibly some delays.
Starting Sunday night, the westbound lanes of the Eisenhower Tunnel will be closed for several days while crews repair a culvert under I-70. Two way traffic will run through the eastbound side.
Loveland Pass also will be closed for several days this coming week for bridge repairs.
Next month, engineers plan to begin inspecting culverts up and down I-70. The failure of a culvert under the westbound lane of I-70 near east
Vail suggested the need for a complete inspection of the 2,200 highway culverts.
The culvert outside the Eisenhower Tunnel has been weakened by age and high spring runoff. Officials say crews will replace about 20 feet of
the culvert. They hope to complete work by Friday, June 27th.
