A sting operation in Canon City puts four liquor stores in jeopardy of closing.
Two girls under the age of 21 were able to purchase liquor at Cell House Seven, Bottleshop Liquor Store, Gorge Liquors and Skyline Liquor.
The owners of Skyline Liquor, Victoria and Don Calhoun say, they always card all of their customers. They say the reason they failed the sting operation is because of their employee, who they trusted and believed was responsible. The Calhoun's say, the clerk should get into trouble, not the business. But according to Canon City Clerk, Becky Walker, the clerk at Skyline Liquor will NOT get off scott free. Walker says, "A clerk that sells alcohol to a minor is ending up paying out close to $800 to $1,000."
Walker says, the law is the law and there is no bending it no matter what the circumstance.
Store owners will be penalized ranging from fines to a revoked license, but Walker says, revocations rarely occur.
