USOC Headquarters Update

U.S. Senator John McCain says he doesn't plan to include provisions in reform legislation forcing the U.S. Olympic Committee to stay in Colorado Springs.

The Arizona Republican says it's not proper to mandate agencies maintain their locations. But he also says fears that the U-S-O-C will move are exaggerated.

Two panels recommend reforming the Olympic committee, reducing the 123 member assembly to an 11 or 13 member board.

U.S. Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell has threatened to block any reform legislation that doesn't include provisions preventing a move out of Colorado Springs.

Campbell says the smaller board would make it easy for a small
group of members to decide to move the headquarters to another
major city.
