John Mark Karr's new lawyer is asking a Sonoma County, California, judge to hear his case on child porn charges as soon as possible.
Robert Amparan officially took over Karr's defense today and demanded a speedy trial within 30 days.
Karr was charged with five misdemeanor counts of possessing child pornography in April 2001, but fled Petaluma while awaiting trial. He remains jailed in Boulder, Colorado, where he was ruled out as a suspect last week in the 1996 murder of JonBenet Ramsey.
Authorities have NOT said publicly when they will return Karr to Sonoma County.
