Beating Death

Canon City police are investigating the apparent beating death of a man whose body was found behind a medical center.

Authorities say 44 year old Walter Minchew of Canon City probably died elsewhere before his body was dropped off in the parking lot. Police Chief Dan Shull says Minchew had only been dead a few hours when a passer-by found the body Sunday.

Fremont County Coroner Doctor Dorothy Twellman says Minchew's body showed evidence of blunt trauma, indicating he may have been
beaten.

His family says they last remember seeing Minchew around 9:00 Saturday night.

If you have any information about Mr. Minchew's death, please contact the Canon City Police at 719-276-5600.
