After a mild Saturday, temperatures to finish the weekend will be MUCH colder! A system to our west pushes into SE Colorado overnight. Snow showers will be possible by early Sunday morning across the I-25 corridor with a change to rain and snow showers through the afternoon. Accumulation should be minimal as most moisture looks to be light and temperatures will warm into the upper 30s and 40s through the afternoon, though areas in higher elevations could see 1-2". Central Command confirms another casualty in Iraq. The soldier is a member of V Corps, based out of Fort Carson. Eight other soldiers were hurt.
CENTCOM says the troops were travelling in an M113 Armored Personnel Carrier on a mission when they encounterd a four-foot drop off on the side of the road. The vehicle lost a track and rolled over.
The accident happened abaout 20 kilometers south of Al Asad Air Base around 8:00 a.m. local time Friday.
One soldier was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were flown by MEDEVAC to Al Asad Air Base for. One immediately returned to duty and the remaining five were expected to return to duty later in the day.
