Gov. Owens has approved a compromise that calls for weighted tuition increases.
Under the compromise, students at the University of Colorado at Boulder will pay up to 8.9 percent more. Students at Western State College will see the smallest increase of up to 3.4 percent.
The boards of Colorado State University, the University of Southern Colorado, and Fort Lewis College, as well as the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center were all ordered to adopt a limit of six percent increases for colleges and nine percent for research institutions.
