A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Gov. Owens has approved a compromise that calls for weighted tuition increases.
Under the compromise, students at the University of Colorado at Boulder will pay up to 8.9 percent more. Students at Western State College will see the smallest increase of up to 3.4 percent.
The boards of Colorado State University, the University of Southern Colorado, and Fort Lewis College, as well as the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center were all ordered to adopt a limit of six percent increases for colleges and nine percent for research institutions.
