Three former prison guards convicted of attacking inmates at a maximum-security prison want to be released from jail until they are sentenced. They made the request Tuesday but a judge has not yet ruled on it.
The men were accused of organizing assaults on inmates at a federal prison in Florence from 1995 to 1997. Four other former guards were acquitted of all charges. Attorneys plan to appeal the convictions.
