The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says two people died following a shooting just east of Colorado Springs behind an apartment complex at Constitution and Canada.

Officials say the shooting stemmed from a fight that happened at Cimarron Eastridge Park, at the intersection of Shawnee and Palmer Park Boulevard. At least 20 people had gathered for some type of "meeting." Investigators are trying to determine if it is gang related.

Witnesses say they heard alot of screaming and yelling before two shots were fired.

"I heard what sounded like kids screaming at each other and then I heard a louder voice and then the screaming got really loud and then I heard a pop," said Dena Cannon.

She said she heard the shots from inside her apartment, which backs up to the park.

"Then it just got quiet," she said.

Deputies say when they arrived on scene they found two males in their late teens lying in the park, both with gunshot wounds.

"They immediately started CPR on both individuals, one was transported, the other was pronounced on scene," said Lt. Lari Sevene with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Less than an hour later, the second victim died at the hospital. Neighbors were left on edge, while deputies try to piece together what happened at the park before the shots were fired.

"Something occurred that led all those people to come to this exact location at that particular time were looking into that," said Lt. Sevene.

Some neighbors think the shooting was gang related.

"My friend called and she said that something happened with a Sand Creek High School gang member," said one neighbor.

But deputies won't confirm anything at this point, they say it's still too early in the investigation.

Both victims are in their late teens, but have not been identified.

Authorities are searching for multiple suspects and two suspect vehicles. The first vehicle is described as a blue Chevy Cavalier, Colorado license plate 293-SLF. The second vehicle is a green sedan, unknown make and model.
