Authorities are looking for a driver who led police on a high speed chase across county lines.

The chase, exceeding 100 miles per hour at times, started in the town of Simla, northeast of El Paso County

It ended when the driver crashed near Barney Road and Highway 24 in El Paso County. That's just East of the town of Calhan.

The driver ran from the scene, touching off a major search of the area, bringing in state troopers and county K-9 units to assist.

El Paso county authorities notified residents within a two mile radius of the crash urging them not to open their doors to strangers tonight.

There were reportedly some casings found in the car. For now authorities are treating the suspect as armed and dangerous.
