I-70 Sinkhole

The Colorado Department of Transportation says rain will be the
deciding factor in whether crews are able to complete their work by
tonight.

C-DOT hopes to have at least one lane open in each direction by
the end of the day.

Rain and runoff from heavy snow sent a mountain creek on a
rampage over the weekend. The water washed out a culvert and opened a 22-foot-wide sinkhole in I-70 east of Vail.

A 24-mile stretch of the interstate has been closed in both
directions since Sunday. That section carries up to 30-thousand
vehicles a day in June.
