Snow started falling around 4 p.m. Monday, but the warm temperatures meant the snow melted when it hit the roads. As the night went on, that water turned to ice.

Colorado Springs streets division put plows on a level one full callout around 8:15 which means that 2200 miles of roads will be plowed and de-iced. Major roads and streets leading to hospitals, schools, major places of employment, and key streets entering residential areas will be hit first.

Drivers are urged to stay inside and not hit the roads Monday night unless it's necessary.
