Fountain Police have arrested a 15-year-old accused of threatening students at Fountain Fort Carson High School.

They say the threat was made on September 23. The suspect told another student he was going to shoot people at school on December 1.

Investigators say during their investigation a rumor began that threats were made against Mesa Ridge High School.

Text messages were sent to parents and students Sunday night warning them about an alleged school shooting at Mesa Ridge.

Fountain Police want everyone to know they are not investigating any threats against Mesa Ridge.

"I have no idea how these text messages got started or how the information got out that it was Mesa Ridge when it was Fountain Fort Carson we were looking at," said Sgt. Jess Freeman with the Fountain Police Department.

Police have not released the suspect’s name because he is a minor.

But, they say he has been released to his parents and faces a misdemeanor charge of interfering with a school. He could spend up to 6 months in jail.
