An autopsy that's scheduled for Monday should shed light on the circumstances of a man's suspicious death.

When Colorado Springs police officers arrived at 7564 Amberly Drive, they found a man lying outside a home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The neighborhood is near Mark Sheffel and Stetson Hills. A woman who lives there, who didn't want to be identified, told KKTV 11 News that she heard a very loud gunshot early Sunday morning.

The woman said, "I almost looked out the window, but then I thought it wouldn't happen in this neighborhood."

Police converged on the area, cordoning off the crime scene with police tape, and going door-to-door interviewing potential witnesses.

The officers didn't share details with the neighbors, other than saying that a man who lived here, died here.

Another neighbor, who declined to give us his name, told a reporter he knew the victim, though not well. He said, "It's crazy because I've talked to the guy a few times when I was putting my laundry in my car to go back home, and he was a nice guy."

Neighbors say they didn't believe it was possible that someone could be murdered on their quiet street.

The autopsy should obtain results that will tell detectives how the man died, and whether it was a murder.
