A Colorado Marine arrested in Washington state on desertion and contempt of court charges has posted $5,000 bail.
A judge has said he expects the Marines to take 23-year-old Lance Hering into custody when he was released. It wasn't immediately clear when that might happen.
Attorney Karen Unger said Hering's bail was posted Thursday.
Hering was reported missing in August 2006. A friend said Hering had wandered off after he was injured in a rock-climbing accident near Boulder.
After a massive search, authorities concluded the report was a hoax.
Port Angeles, Washington police arrested Hering Sunday after a tip from the Boulder County sheriff. He was with his father, Lloyd Hering, who was arrested on a suspicion of aiding and abetting.
