The thought of long lines and headaches at the Colorado Springs Airport may be a thing of the past after the airport makes some changes.
Over 41 million Americans are expected to travel 50 miles or more this Thanksgiving. The Colorado Springs Airport has some new ways of making things easier and quicker for the thousands who will walk through its' doors.
"We've go full staffing. We've got plenty of folks in to help folks get through the holidays and get to their destinations on time," said Gary McCurdy, Federal Security Director at the Colorado Springs Airport.
Making things easier for passengers starts in the parking lot.
Seven new automated stations are set up for passengers when paying to park. All to help speed up the process of things
"They're actually really friendly machines. They even talk to you. We hope people will take advantage of them over the holidays," said John Faulkner, Assistant Aviation Director at the Colorado Springs Airport.
Some changes inside should make for a smoother transition when waiting at the security checkpoint.
It's called the family lane. People with children and other needs can use the family lane to free up space for those with fewer needs.
Things to remember if you plan to fly out of the Colorado Springs Airport:
-If you have gifts, make sure they’re unwrapped.
-Make sure your liquids and gels are in 3 ounce containers, and fit in a quart size zip lock bag.
