Birds wanted. The Care & Share Food Bank of Southern Colorado wants your turkeys.
Money is tight right now for some, but there are some good deals out there.
As of Tuesday Care & Share only had about 95 turkeys in their freezer, but they need 6,000 turkeys in order to cover everyone in the community who needs one. They'll be delivering the turkeys and other holiday foods to 430 charities across Southern Colorado.
So if you haven't already you have a little more than a week to get your game on this Thanksgiving.
Again, money is tight. So what do you? "We're going to kind of do a smaller thanksgiving this year," said Krysta Morrison, a Colorado Springs resident.
Or you can get a cheaper turkey. "I think turkeys are all kind of the same. They're turkeys," said Morrison.
But, is there a difference? "It's all in the cook. A turkey is a turkey," said Angelo Martinez who is a Food Specialist at King Soopers Grocery Store.
The bird to get? "We recommend you get the Jennie-O if you're going to donate. You get more for your money and it's a better deal," said Martinez.
And every little bit you donate can help a lot. "Makes just a huge difference and just really, really embodies the Thanksgiving spirit," said Suzanne Lee who is with Care & Share.
Bring A Turkey To Work day is on Friday. Ask your employer if they are participating.
Or you can drop off your turkey or other holiday food items at three Wal-Mart locations in Colorado Springs. Wal-Mart Locations: Chapel Hills (Razorback); 8Th Street; NEW LOCATION: Powers and Palmer Park. You can drop off goods from 6AM to 6PM. You can also visit the Care & Share website for further details at, http://www.careandshare.org/page.asp?id=3&name=Events
