Tuesday, Cadet Class 2010 got down and dirty competing for the Big, Bad Basic title. Calling on skills they've learned the past few days, cadets battled and crawled through obstacle and assault courses, as well as other event.
Battling for the title of "Big Bad Basic," in a single-elimination tournament, contestants battled one another with pugil sticks. This year's title-holder, Sajuddin El-Amin, says compared to the days other challenges the pugil-stick fight was a breeze. He says, "Going through the assault course was most likely the toughest even that I did. The cadre are yelling out your name, you're hitting the ground, maintaining a low profile, putting your face in the dirt... that's probably the dirtiest I've ever been crawling through the mud."
Cadets will march out of Jacks Valley Tuesday evening, and training continues through August 5.
The fall academic semester starts August 10.
