COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Springs Toll Road Incorporated wants to build toll lanes from Interstate 25 near the Air Force Academy to Colorado 83. They also want to build toll overpasses along north Powers Boulevard and a 14-mile, two-lane toll road through the 24-thousand-acre Banning-Lewis Ranch.
Tolls would be charged only on new lanes and bridges on the 33-mile arc around eastern Colorado Springs.
Developers say construction could start in 2008 if local and state officials approve the project. They say initial tolls of 30 cents a mile would support the roadway.
