Officials say a soldier from Fort Carson who suffered a serious head wound during a raid in Iraq remains in a hospital in Germany.

Staff Sergeant William Travis Latham is a member of the Second
Squadron of the Third Armored Cavalry Regiment -- and a regiment
spokesman says Latham is in critical condition.

Fort Carson spokesman Richard Bridges says Latham's wife was en
route to Germany to be at her husband's bedside.

The soldier was injured Tuesday during a raid on a suspected
weapons cache.

Officials say another soldier fired a grenade to blast a door open -- and shrapnel hit Latham in the head.
