A shocking revelation Thursday… A man in prison already for murder confessed to an unsolved Colorado Springs murder and says he's a serial killer.
53-year-old Robert Charles Browne pled guilty Thursday morning to killing 15-year-old Rocio Sperry at a Springs apartment complex in 1987. He's reportedly confessed to 48 brutal murders across the country.
11 years ago, Browne also confessed to killing Heather Church. He is currently serving time for her murder. She was the Black Forest teen who went missing and her remains were found off of Rampart Range Road.
The Sheriff's Office had been corresponding with brown in jail through letters for the past 4 years.
Woman after woman, in their teens and 20's and they were all petite. Browne claims he killed up to 48 people across the nation, mostly in the south, here in Colorado Springs, where he lived here for 9 years and along the west. The Sheriff's Office says Browne would strangle or stab them, even dismembering a few of his victims.
Sheriff Terry Maketa said, "He spent little time with his victims." Browne would claim he would throw the bodies in rivers, drainage ditches, even in the trash. Investigators say Browne said his reason for the murders: his disgust for women and their lack of morality.
So why is Browne allegedly confessing now? Investigators say he doesn't even know why. They also say he never showed remorse for his crimes. If all 48 murders are corroborated, Browne could be one of the worst serial killers in history.
