A panel looking at ways to change how Colorado elections are run will meet for the first time Wednesday.

State lawmakers created the Election Reform Commission last year after county clerks objected to a switch to paper ballots as they were gearing up for the big presidential election. But now that the election is over, Senate Majority Leader Ken Gordon says there's time to take another look at whether counties should rely more on paper ballots instead of electronic voting machines.

Other issues on the table include how counties cancel duplicate registrations in the state's new voter database and whether there should be more stringent post-election audits to make sure officials got their counts right.

The panel includes county and town clerks as well as three lawyers familiar with election law.
