The US Embassy in Beirut says every American who wants to leave will be able to get out eventually.

The US ambassador says 320 Americans will leave Lebanon by the end of Tuesday and a thousand more will be escorted out Wednesday.

Dozens of evacuees, many with health problems, are being flown out by military chopper while hundreds more are waiting for a chartered cruise ship to take them to Cyprus. It's not clear when the Orient Queen will arrive.

The Navy says the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit has been ordered to the waters off Lebanon to help with the evacuation. And three other US military ships are expected within a day or so.

A ship chartered by Sweden packed in a thousand Scandinavians and other Europeans Tuesday. And a British destroyer has now docked in Beirut to start an evacuation of British nationals.
