Flood Threat

Brad Lundahl, chief of conservation and drought planning for the
Colorado Water Conservation Board and chairman of the state drought
task force, says history shows that droughts often end with
flooding.

On Monday, the statewide snowpack level reached 100 percent of
the 30-year average. It was the best reading on this date since
1999, and almost seven times last year's level. Five of eight major
river basins were at 100 percent of average or higher.

On Wednesday, a statewide drought task force will meet in Golden
with the state's flood-prevention planners.
