State Democrats filed a Friday, just minutes after Governor Bill Owens signed into law a measure redrawing Colorado's congressional boundaries.
The suit, filed in Denver District Court, names the Colorado General Assembly and Secretary of State Donetta Davidson as defendants.
State Republicans pushed the redistricting through in the final three days of the legislative session, prompting complaints from Democrats, who claim the move is unconstitutional. The Democrats also claim the move violated the Colorado Open Meetings Law, First Amendment guarantees and legislative rules and regulations.
Those who filed the lawsuit are Senator Mary Anne ``Moe''
Keller, of Wheat Ridge, and Pauline York, represented by Kelly
Haglund Garnsey and Kahn L.L.C.
