Just-released test results show nearly three-fourths of Colorado's third-graders performed well on reading achievement tests.

About 74 percent of students scored "proficient or advanced" on this year's Colorado Student Assessment Program test. That compares with 72 percent in 2001 and 2002. About 69 percent ranked in those categories in 2000.

Minorities, poor students and disabled students also showed steady improvement. About 59 percent of black students scored "proficient or advanced" this year. That's up from 55 percent last year and 54 percent in 2001.

About 56 percent of Hispanics scored in the two highest categories. That compares with 51 percent in each of the two previous years.
