Nearly two months ago, Dixie Chicks lead singer, Natallie Mains made an anti-Bush statement that put the country group at the center of political controversy. At a concert in England, Mains said, "Just so you know, we're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas."

That statement prompted people to smash the group's CD's on the street, and boycott their music. Radio stations around the country stopped playing Dixie Chicks music.

That is, until Monday. Two radio deejays in Colorado Springs decided to start playing the group's music again, without their boss's permission. In fact, the two locked themselves in the control booth at CS102, "The Moose", so they could play the music.

Deejays Jeff Singer and Dave Moore stayed locked in the booth for about five hours while they took Dixie Chicks requests from listeners.

It's been nearly two months since CS102 played any of the trio's music because of the controversy.

Both Singer and Moore say they support President Bush and the U.S. troops overseas. And, they add, they don't agree with what Mains said, but the group has been punished again

Listeners seemed to agree. The response was three to one, in favor of the Dixie Chicks.

Management at CS102 has put Singer and Moore on a "time out" for an undetermined amount of time.
