A recent rash of home break-ins has Colorado Springs residents on edge. At least 10 times in the past month and a half, crooks have gotten into homes through open windows and doors in the middle of the night. Mostly these are robberies, but some are sexual assaults.
But, there are ways to keep yourself safe for pretty cheap. "This is an alarm that you can set on your door or window. The vibration sets it off, but doesn't really stop them from getting in," Jere Furcha with ACE Hardware said.
You can use window locks to prevent an outsider from opening it any more. There is also a security bar for your sliding glass door.
Some of these break-in could be linked, but police are still investigating. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP in Colorado Springs or at 542-STOP in Pueblo.
