Colorado Springs has always had a hand in training pilots for the Air Force. Now Pueblo is getting in the game.
Doss Aviation of Colorado Springs has won the contract to run the Air Force's new Initial Flight Screening School.
Pilots from every part of the Air Force, with the exception of the Academy will first have to come through Pueblo before moving on to flight training.
The new school will put students through 25 hours of flying time as well as many classroom hours to test whether or not they have what it takes to be a pilot.
The school is expected to see as many as 1700 students per year and bring between 170 and 180 jobs to the City of Pueblo.
The School is expected to open by October 1st and be fully functional by 2007.
