Colorado's wine industry, based primarily on the Western Slope, contributed more than 40 million dollars to the state's economy during the 2005 season.

Colorado State University researchers said Colorado's wine production ranked 22nd in the nation or three percent of all sales nationally.

A CSU report said production has increased 500 percent in a decade.

The average 750 milliliter bottle of Colorado wine sells for almost 13 dollars.
