The city of Fountain is under emergency water restrictions. A mechanical failure at the water treatment plant has created a critical water shortage. Fountain residents are allowed to use water to drink, cook and to shower, but no one is allowed to water their lawns.
There isn't a fine if you don't follow the restrictions, but the city is asking everyone to cooperate in case of emergency. "In case of a fire… We have adequate water for everyone’s needs, but need people to cut back these next couple of days," Larry Patterson, Utility Director for the City of Fountain said.
They expect to lift the water restrictions late Tuesday afternoon.
Fountain was under voluntary restrictions before this and will return to them after this critical time. But, the city says that could change with the dry conditions we've been having.
