Black Hills Energy workers are going door-to-door to restore natural gas at homes in Woodland Park.
Thursday afternoon a 4-inch gas pipe was broken at the intersection of Highway 24 and Trout Creek Road. About 300 customers lost their gas service when that happened.
Crews worked through the afternoon and evening to fix the pipe and check for leaks. Thursday night 18 employees started going to each home that was impacted to manually light the pilot lights.
Black Hills Energy asks that an adult stays home while they try to relight the pilot lights. If nobody is home an employee will leave a pamphlet at the front door with a number to call a 24-hour customer service line to make an appointment.
