The change reflects a drop in worldwide travel demand because of
the war in Iraq and the SARS virus.
The announcement extends by a month the war-related cuts the
bankrupt carrier made for April. It also increases the percentage
of planned flights to be eliminated from eight to 12.
United is the dominant carrier at Denver International Airport.
The airline would not say how many workers will be furloughed as
a result of the latest cuts.
A total of 105 U-S flights and 24 international flights will be
lopped off the planned schedule as of May Fifth. United will also
temporarily eliminate 131 departures operated as United Express
