Snow Emergency Money

President Bush has declared an emergency in Colorado because of last month's historic snowstorm.

The declaration provides federal funding to reimburse the state and 22 counties for some of the money spent on snow removal and emergency workers.

White House press secretary Ari Fleischer announced the declaration this morning in Washington, DC.

Fleischer says aid will be available for emergency protective measures to save lives and protect people's health, safety and property between March 17 and 20.

The blizzard left behind up to 11 feet of snow and stranded thousands of residents and travelers.
