It's National Work Zone Traffic Awareness Week. And it's meant to bring attention to the men and women who have died while working in construction zones.

Pueblo is honoring those lost, with a unique memorial. More than 800 traffic cones line the parking lot next to the pueblo chamber of commerce. Together they represent all those who died in work zone accidents nationwide last year. Officials say there were 2 fatalities in Pueblo.

Officials are asking drivers to be aware when they drive through construction zones, for the safety of the workers.

The event was organized by the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce, A-1 Rental and the City and County of Pueblo.
