Millions of people will be traveling this holiday weekend despite higher gas prices this year compared to years past.
AAA estimates more than 31 million people will travel 50 miles or more on the roads this Memorial Day weekend. Gas prices are more than 30 percent higher this year than during last year’s Memorial Day weekend, but most people aren’t letting the prices put the brakes on traveling.
“Oh no, why should I? It’s only money,” said Jerry O’Dowd.
“We just have to pay it; we’re forced to pay it, you know,” said Mike Stone.
AAA says some drivers are cutting their trips shorter or going a shorter difference to help save because the higher prices at the pump.
