A young Marine killed while fighting in Iraq is being remembered as a patriot and a leader who lived life with voracity. Some 350 mourners packed First Methodist Church in Alamosa, Colorado, this morning for the funeral of Corporal Randal Kent Rosacker.

The 21-year-old was one of ten Marines killed March 23rd in fierce fighting near the Iraqi city of An Nasiriyah. Rosacker was buried with full military honors including a 21-gun salute from the Marine Air Control Squadron at Buckley Air Force Base.

Rosacker was born in Alamosa and grew up in San Diego. He spent summers and Christmas holidays in the Alamosa area and asked to be buried there if anything happened. Family members say he hoped to someday return to Colorado for good.
