Seven years have now passed since the 9-11 attacks in New York City. As the anniversary approaches, at one local pizzeria, they're doing their part to make sure that no one forgets that day.

Borriello Brothers Pizza is donating all of their proceeds Sunday to local fire departments.

All three owners are from New York and that's why they say they are giving back in what small way they can. Their staff is all working for free and all the proceeds made at their three pizzerias will be given to local firefighters.

"It's something we can give back," said Rob Raia co-owner.

And local firefighters are also doing their part, putting their fire fighting duties aside to make pizza instead.

"Just trying to keep the dough from getting holes in it," said Ryan Hawley, a Colorado Springs Firefighter.

Pieces of New York can be found all over the walls at Borriello Brothers. The three owners grew up in the Big Apple and for them the anniversary of 9-11 is always a tough day.

"When those towers came down, it hit really close to home, we are all from there," said Raia.

And since that day, they vowed to never let anyone who walked through the doors forget what happened.

"Everything changed when that happened and I don't think a lot of people in Colorado realized the impact it had on the nation," Raia said.

That's why they'll continue to mark the anniversary, their way, for years to come.

"This is going to be an annual event, we started last year and we are going to keep moving forward."

And giving back in what small way they can, one pizza at a time.

All of the money brought in at the two Borriello Brothers locations in the Springs will go to the Colorado Springs Fire Department. The proceeds from their Security restaurant will be given to the Security Fire Department.
