It could be a breeze to eat out cheap this fall -- depending, that is, on what you order.
Some restaurant companies are planning to woo diners back with lower-priced dishes as the weather grows colder, following a second quarter of too many empty tables and falling profits.
Golden (Colorado)-based Boston Market, for example, first offered five of its most popular meals for $4.99 in July. Seven other menu items were lowered to about $5 this month.
The meals usually cost closer to $7.
Meantime, Burger King has added two new items to its value menu: the Cheesy Bacon BK Wrapper and the Spicy Chicken BK Wrapper, for $1.39.
KeyBanc Capital Markets senior restaurant analyst Lynne Collier says an emphasis on value could help reverse sliding sales at restaurants overall.
