A strong cold front will move through Southern Colorado today. It will bring much colder temperatures (especially in the afternoon), strong wind, a few rain/snow showers, and blowing dust to Southern Colorado. Light snow accumulations and poor visibility will be possible for a time this afternoon and evening north of Colorado Springs and south/southwest of Pueblo. Blowing dust will be mostly likely on the Eastern Plains, where a Blowing Dust Advisory is in effect. Bottom-line, your Tuesday will feel (and look) a lot different than the past two days. Be prepared...
A man who crashed a pickup truck into a tree while towing a stolen front-end loader is dead, but it's not yet clear what killed him.
Commerce City police say Toby Cordova died Thursday at Denver Health Medical Center, one day after officers noticed him hauling the Bobcat in a trailer around one that morning.
Recent thefts at construction sites made officers suspicious. They tried to pull him over, but police say he refused to stop and led them on a chase.
Authorities put out stop sticks, but Cordova allegedly avoided them and tried to run down an officer. That's when police shot at the driver, who lost control and hit a tree at Barr Lake Campground.
An autopsy will determine whether the 33-year-old died after being shot, or from injuries suffered in the crash.
