It is the first civilian involvement in the growing scandal at the academy. Assistant District Attorney Dan May says the woman called the office and asked if officials would consider state charges. He
wouldn't identify her.

May says his office and the sheriff's department are allowed to
investigate cases at the academy.

Air Force officials say there have been at least 56 reports of
sexual assaults of female cadets. The Air Force has two
investigations underway, and the Defense Department's Inspector
General plans to start its own investigation next week.

The Air Force has said it will release its recommendations for
making the academy safe for female cadets by the end of this month.
