The City of Colorado Springs' stormwater enterprise fee may hit your pocketbook later than planned. Local businesses are saying they need more time to budget for the new fee, which will cost them almost 40 dollars a month. The stormwater enterprise fee will cost the average household just over seven dollars a month.
City council might delay the stormwater fee's onset from October until January of 2007... The City of Colorado Springs says the new fee is needed to fund critical projects. "We can extend the life of those improvements a lot. And that will help defray the costs for capital improvement in the future," said Kenneth Sampley, Stormwater Engineering Manager for the City of Colorado Springs.
The official vote on the fee's onset is scheduled for August. City leaders plan to meet with residents this summer to explain the fee and answer questions about it.
