Robin long flees to Canada just as his unit is being deployed to Iraq.

AWOL for three years, long was deported from Canada and sent back to the U.S. just last week. This, the first time since the Vietnam era.

Long’s support comes from a local activist group who was out in protest Friday in Colorado Springs. They claim, Long didn't know what he was getting into when he joined the service, saying had the right to flee to Canada.

Others feel the exact opposite saying, if you plan to join the military during war-time, you better be prepared to go to war.

"There's a huge propaganda smear across the country to get young men to join the military”, says Garett Reppenhagen who fought in Iraq in 2005.

But according to Colonel B. Shannon Davis, the requirements of service are clear from the very beginning.

"There should be no reservations when you take the oath of office to protect your country and fight for your country", said Davis.

But Long's supporters refuse to give up. They refuse to believe the war in Iraq is justified. So they protest, hoping Long is set free.

Become AWARE and visit (resitingGI dot com) on the world wide web! By Article III federal jurisdictional codes, Robin Long’s trial initially should have been before a Federal Jury in a Federal District Court and not in a Kangaroo Court-Martial that had no jurisdiction to hear his defense. A terrible Bill of Right violation by the U.S. Government! Argument: The oath to support and defend the Constitution from all enemies in Robin’s Case raises constitutional dimensions that rises under our Constitution and thus by Article III of our Constitution, Robin’s Federal District Court had the only jurisdiction over his Case. Why these fundamentals of LAW are bypassed is a mystery. If Robin’s Case had of gone to his district Federal Court before a Jury, he would have won hands down and now be FREE and the USG would have been embarrassed as the USG should be embarrassed for their continuing trashing of our Constitution. Rob, do you even know WTF you're talking about? The Oath of Enlistment states " to support AND defend the Constitution of the United States against ALL enemies, foreign AND domestic. NO where does it state that you can be a dodger or objector because you don't agree with the war. Also, thanks for NOT joining. We don't ned people like you defending our freedom. You might as well be a Reservist = civilian in uniform. In closing the punishment for treason/being absent without leave during a war is death!
