Maureen ``Missy'' Martin was discharged from Craig Hospital
Friday. She turns 17 Tuesday.
Martin suffered a brain injury when her car stalled at a
railroad crossing in Castle Rock on November 12th. Her boyfriend
Vinny Veruchi was in his pickup truck behind her and tried to push
her to safety. The plan failed.
Martin awoke from the coma in December and started communicating
through sign language. After nearly three months of rehab, she can
stand but cannot walk yet. And she has problems speaking but her
family hope she will be able to return to school in the fall.
