An emergency official says the Jamaica Tourist Board is lining up hotels for passengers on the Star Princess.
Cruise officials say a fire aboard the ship killed one person and injured eleven others before it was doused. Carnival Corporation's chief financial officer says at least two of the injuries were from smoke inhalation.
The ship is docked in Montego Bay. No smoke was coming from it when rescue personnel boarded.
The Jamaican emergency official says crews don't know yet why the fire started.
The ship sailed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Sunday. It was carrying nearly 2700 passengers and more than 1100 crew.
