The avalanche happened Sunday in Chaffee County, near Buena Vista.
The victim, Manitou Springs resident, Wayne Wilkinson, was riding snowmobiles with his wife near the Tarmigan Lake are when the slide happened according to Chaffee County officials.
Search and rescue dogs found Wilkinson's body several hours later under about five feet of snow.
Wilkinson's death marks the third avalanche death in the same area in the last month.
